OxfordMUN 2024: Meet Your Chairs!

Now that the conference is fast approaching, we thought we’d introduce you to your chairpersons! Each committee will have one Main Chair, one or two Co-Chairs, and potentially an Assistant Director as well. The Main Chair will be your main point of contact and will be leading the Dais - here’s a few details about all of them, so you can get to know them a little bit better before the conference!

Things we wish we knew before our first MUN conference!

Participating in your first Model UN conference at OxfordMUN can be an exhilarating experience, but at times it may appear to be overwhelming. Hogwarts MUN? Here is Where Our Conference Will be Held!

Jan Chan, Executive Advisor

The OxfordMUN 2024 Home Conference is happening in just a month! If you’re joining us, or even visiting Oxford for the first time, you must be excited about debating global issues in historic buildings with stunning architecture. In this blog post, we’ll introduce you to the spectacular venues hosting this year’s conference.

Examination Schools

The Examination Schools, a striking Victorian building located on Oxford’s High Street, is where most debates will take place. Designed by Sir Thomas Jackson in 1876, it has served as the central examination venue for Oxford University students. (Yes, we actually sit our exams here!) Its grand, high-ceilinged rooms offer a perfect setting for intense debates. Rooms are allocated according to committee size, but we guarantee that all of them are equally impressive!

Town Hall
We are proud to host our opening and closing ceremonies, as well as one of our Delegate Socials, at the glamorous Oxford Town Hall. A masterpiece of Victorian Gothic Revival architecture, the Town Hall was completed in 1897 and remains a symbol of civic city pride. Its grand hall, with its magnificent stained-glass windows, offers a breathtaking atmosphere for our ceremonies.

Natural History Museum

The equally glamorous - but arguably more extraordinary - location for our second Delegate Social is the Natural History Museum. Known for its stunning neo-Gothic design, this 19th-century museum houses collections of zoological, entomological, and geological specimens. Both its exhibits and glass roof make it a unique piece of architecture, making it the perfect backdrop for a memorable evening of socialising and networking.

Trinity College, Oxford

If you sign up for our Midnight Committee Session, you’ll have the opportunity to visit Trinity College, one of the 39 constituent colleges of the University of Oxford. Founded in 1555, Trinity College is known for its beautiful quadrangles, historic buildings, and tranquil gardens. The college’s timeless gardens are sure to make the Midnight Committee Session a unique experience.

A Peek into the Daily Life of an Oxford Student

A Peek into the Daily Life of an Oxford Student

Oxford University is, on many levels, a very strange place. It is full of bizarre traditions, eccentric tutors and creepy buildings. How does this all fit into a regular student’s experience, and how does one make the most of Oxford’s quirks while maintaining a sense of normalcy in day-to-day life? I’m going to answer this question by taking you through a day in my life as a student studying Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Oxford.

What Makes the Oxford College System Special?

Oxford University is made up of 43 colleges spread out across the city. Being a student at Oxford means you are a member of a college, as well as your subject’s department.
